Function: - transcriptional repressor & transcriptional activator - binds to CACCC-box promoter elements - also binds the GT-box of cyclin D1 promoter - mediates cell cycle progression at G1 phase as a downstream target of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) - sumoylation at Lys-67 - represses transcriptional activity & reduces cell cycle progression into the G1 phase - no effect on subcellular location - interacts with corepressor CtBP2 - interacts with PIAS1, PIAS2, & PIAS4; - interaction with each ligase sumoylates KLF8 Structure: - belongs to the Sp1 C2H2-type Zn+2-finger protein family - contains 3 C2H2-type Zn+2 fingers Compartment: nucleus Expression: ubiquitous
