XP E-correcting protein

Function: - binds specifically to UV-irradiated DNA [1] - also recognizes DNA damage induced by nitrogen mustard, MNNG, 4NQO, 8-methoxypsoralen, cis & trans DDP & apurinic DNA [2] - it is the only XP-correcting protein that is not absolutely required for DNA excision repair in vitro - may also serve another facilitatory role in nucleotide excision repair
