In dermatology: - macroscopic term referring to an itchy, transient, elevated area with variable blanching & erythema formed as the result of dermal edema. - superficial, pruritic, erythematous plaque, well demarcated & intermittently present [3] Etiology: Wheals may be associated with: 1) urticaria 2) urticarial vasculitis 3) insect bites 4) intradermal injection
