Indications: - initiating warfarin therapy - history of unstable warfarin dosing - risk for bleeding events while receiving warfarin therapy Procedure: - Invader Warfarin Sensitivity Molecular Assay - detection of common allelic variants in cytochrome P450 2C9 & vitamin K epoxide reductase complex subunit-1 (VKORC1) genes, including CYP2C9*1, CYP2C9*2 (3608C>T), CYP2C9*3 (42614A>C) & VKORC1 -1639G>A - utilizes polymerase chain reaction (PCR) Specimen: - lavender top, do not freeze Laboratory: - see ARUP consult [3]
