The upper part of the laryngeal cavity from the superior aperture to the vestibular folds or rima vestibuli. Boundaries: - anteriorly by the epiglottis - laterally by the mucosa overlying the quadrangular membranes - posteriorly by the mucosa overlying the arytenoid cartilages & arytenoideus muscle
