Etiology: - incomplete or disorder fusion of the Mullerian ducts during embryogenesis Pathology: - a partition with the vagina - longitudinal: separating vagina into two potential spaces - transverse: - blocks outflow from the vagina interial to the septum - blocks mentrual flow - accumulation of menstrual debris behind the septum is termed cryptomenorrhea Clinical manifestations: - dyspareunia - obstruction in labor - amenorrhea Management: - surgical resection
