UDP-glucose:glycoprotein glucosyltransferase 2; UGT2; hUGT2; UDP-Glc:glycoprotein glucosyltransferase 2; UDP-glucose ceramide glucosyltransferase-like 2 (UGGT2, UGCGL2, UGT2)

Function: 1) recognizes glycoproteins with minor folding defects 2) reglucosylates single N-glycans near the misfolded part of the protein, thus providing quality control for protein folding in the endoplasmic reticulum 3) reglucosylated proteins are recognized by calreticulin for recycling to the endoplasmic reticulum & refolding or degradation Cofactor: Ca+2 or Mn+2 Structure: belongs to the glycosyltransferase 8 family Compartment: - endoplasmic reticulum lumen - endoplasmic reticulum-Golgi intermediate compartment Expression: - expressed (at higher levels) in kidney, pancreas, heart, skeletal muscle
