Epidemiology: - much more common in females Pathology: - inflamation of the bladder trigone - apparent squamous metaplastic changes in the trigone of the bladder Laboratory: - urinalysis with reflex urine culture & sensitivity Special laboratory: - cystoscopy - white patch on bladder trigone - tissue biopsy Differential diagnosis: - urinary tract infection Management: - no treatment necessary in young females - generally diffuse, surgical resection not done - in high-risk patients with keratinizing metaplasia on biopsy, - annual cystoscopy - urine cytology
