trans-Golgi network integral membrane protein 2; TGN38 homolog; TGN46; TGN48; trans-Golgi network protein TGN51 (TGOLN2, TGN46, TGN51)

Function: - may be involved in regulating membrane traffic to & from the trans-Golgi network Compartment: - cell membrane; single-pass type 1 membrane protein - Golgi, trans-Golgi network membrane - primarily in trans-Golgi network - cycles between the trans-Golgi network & the cell surface returning via endosomes Alternative splicing: named isoforms=6; TGN51, TGN46, TGN48 Expression: - isoform TGN46 is widely expressed - isoform TGN51 is more abundant in fetal lung & kidney - isoform TGN48 is expressed at very low levels in embryonic kidney & promyelocytic cells
