transcription factor TFIIIB component B'' homolog (transcription factor IIIB 150, TFIIIB150, transcription factor-like nuclear regulator, BDP1, KIAA1241, KIAA1689, TFNR)
Function:
- general activator of RNA polymerase 3 transcription
- requires for transcription from all 3 types of RNA polymerase 3 promoters
- requires for transcription of genes with internal promoter elements & with promoter elements upstream of the initiation site
- component of TFIIIB complex.
- interacts with BRF1; this interaction diminishes during mitosis resulting in release of BDP1 from chromosomal templates
- component of TFIIIC complex
- interacts with ZBTB43
- phosphorylated by CSNK2A1 during mitosis, resulting in its release from chromatin & suppression of RNA polymerase 3 transcription
- phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR
Structure: contains 1 Myb-like domain
Compartment: nucleus
Alternative splicing: named isoforms=8
Expression:
- isoform 2 is highly expressed in cerebellum
- induced by epstein-Barr virus (EBV) resulting in the stimulation of the EBV EBER genes
