tolazoline (Priscoline, Arterodyl)

Tradename: Priscoline. Indications: - persistent fetal circulation Dosage: - load 1-2 mg/kg IV over 10 min, then - infusion 1-2 mg/kg/hr. Injection: 25 mg/mL (10 mL). Adverse effects: 1) common (> 10%) - GI bleeding, abdominal pain, hypochloremic acidosis, hypotension, acute renal failure, oliguria, thrombocytopenia, burning at site of injection 2) less common (1-10%) - nausea, diarrhea, increased pilomotor activity, peripheral vasodilation, tachycardia 3) uncommon (< 1%) - mydriasis, hypertension, tachycardia, arrhythmias, agranulocytosis, pancytopenia, increased secretions, pulmonary hemorrhage
