59 kD 2'-5'-oligoadenylate synthase-like protein; thyroid receptor-interacting protein 14; TR-interacting protein 14; TRIP-14; p59 OASL; p59OASL (OASL, TRIP14)

Function: - does not have 2'-5'-oligoadenylate synthase activity, but binds double-stranded RNA & DNA - specifically interacts with the ligand binding domain of the thyroid receptor - TRIP14 does not require the presence of thyroid hormone for its interaction - binds MBD1 Structure: - belongs to the 2-5A synthase family - contains 2 ubiquitin-like domains Alternative splicing: named isoforms=2 Expression: - expressed in most tissues - highest expression in peripheral blood Leukocytes & other hematopoietic tissues, colon, stomach - lesser expression in testis - induced by interferons Comparative biology: - this may not be the true ortholog of mouse OASL
