Indications:
- pharmaceutical aid for weight reduction
Dosage:
- 0.25-1.0 mg PO QD
Adverse effects:
1) most common side effects are gastrointestinal & dose-related
a) dry mouth
b) nausea
c) constipation, hard stools
d) diarrhea
e) insomnia
2) increased blood pressure 1.0 mg
3) increased heart rate (7.4 beats per min, 0.5 mg)
Mechanism of action:
- inhibits presynaptic uptake of noradrenaline, dopamine, & serotonin,
