Clinical significance:
1) non-inflammatory conditions
- < 3000 WBC/mm3 (< 3 x 10E9/L): < 30% neutrophils
- no RBC
2) inflammatory
- 3000-75,000 WBC/mm3 (3-75 x 10E9/L): > 50% neutrophils
- no RBC
3) infectious
- 50,000-200,000 WBC/mm3 (50-200 x 10E9/L): > 90% neutrophils
- RBCs present
4) hemorrhagic
- 50-10,000 WBC/mm3 (0.05-10 x 10E9/L): < 50% neutrophils
- RBCs present
