synovial chondromatosis; Reichel's syndrome; Reichel-Jones-Henderson syndrome

Clinical manifestations: - arthralgia for months to years - no relief with exercise, steroid injection or heat - restriction of joint movement - 3 defined stages: - early: no joint mice, active synovial disease - transitional: active synovial disease, joint mice - late: joint mice, no synovial disease; Radiology: - shows nothing on X-ray, until joint mice appear Differential diagnosis: - tendonitis - arthritis Management: - surgical removal of joint mice - partial or total synovectomy
