Function: 1) control of regulated secretion in neural & endocrine cells 2) selectively lenhances low-frequency neurotransmission 3) positively regulates vesicle fusion by maintaining readily releasable pool of secretory vesicles (putative) 4) interacts with SYT1 (Ca+-dependent) 5) N-glycosylated Compartment: - cytoplasmic vesicle, secretory vesicle, synaptic vesicle, - synaptic vesicle membrane - enriched in small synaptic vesicles & adrenal microsomes - not present in chromaffin granules - associated with both insulin granules & synaptic-like microvesicles in insulin-secreting cells of the pancreas
