Function: 1) catalyzes the oxidation of sulfhydryl groups in peptide & protein thiols to disulfides with reduction of O2 to H2O2 2) disulfide bond formation in a variety of secreted proteins 3) regulating the sensitization of neuroblastoma cells for interferon-gamma-induced apoptosis Cofactor: binds 1 FAD per subunit Structure: - monomer - belongs to the quiescin-sulfhydryl oxidase (QSOX) family - contains 1 ERV/ALR sulfhydryl oxidase domain - contains 1 thioredoxin domain Compartment: - membrane, secreted - seems to be predominantly targeted to the nuclear membrane & outer plasma membrane Expression: - expressed in pancreas, brain, placenta, kidney, heart, fetal tissues > lung, liver, skeletal muscle
