ski-like protein; ski-related protein; ski-related oncogene; sno-proto oncogene protein (SKIL, SNO)

Function: - may have regulatory role in cell division or differentiation in response to extracellular signals - interacts with SMAD2, SMAD3 & RNF111 - antagonizes TGF-beta signalling through direct interactions with SMAD2/SMAD4 & SMAD3/SMAD4 Structure: - belongs to the SKI family Alternative splicing: - named isoforms=4; SNON, SNOA, SNON2, SNOI Expression: - SNON & SNOA isoforms are widely expressed - highest expression is found in skeletal muscle, followed by placenta & lung - lowest expression in heart, brain & pancreas - expression of isoform SNOI is restricted to skeletal muscle
