Function: - phosphorylated SMAD2 binds to SMAD4 & enters the nucleus - SMAD2/SMAD4 & SMAD3/SMAD4 complexes interact with transcription factors: - activating transcription factor 2 (ATF2) - CREB-binding protein - p300 transcriptional adaptor protein - SMAD2/SMA4 interacts with forkhead activin signal transducer 2 - sno-N antagonizes TGF-beta signalling through direct interactions with SMAD2/SMAD4 & SMAD3/SMAD4.
