sincalide (Kinevac)

Indications: - to stimulate gallbladder contraction - to stimulate pancreatic secretion - to accelerate the transit of a barium meal through the small bowel Dosage: - 0.02-0.04 ug/kg IV over 30-60 seconds Adverse effects: - common - abdominal cramping - nausea - less common <= 2% - vomiting, flushing, sweating, rash, hypotension, hypertension, shortness of breath, urge to defecate, headache, diarrhea, sneezing, numbness Mechanism of action: - synthetically-prepared C-terminal octapeptide of cholecystokinin
