Indications:
- assessment of cochlear pathology
Principle:
- test based upon phenomenon of recruitment of loudness, observed in patients with cochlear pathology
Procedure:
- a constant 20 dB tone (near threshold) is presented
- periodically, an additional 1-5 dB is superimposed on the original tone
- patients with cochlear pathology have a clear advantage in distinguishing the superimposed tones due to the phenomenon of recruitment of loudness
