Function: - induces the collapse & paralysis of neuronal growth cones - may serve as a ligand that guides specific growth cones by a motility-inhibiting mechanism - binds to the complex neuropilin-1/plexin-1 (putative) - in mice, simultaneously promotes bone formation & inhibits bone resorption [3] Structure: - strong binding to neuropilin is mediated by the C-terminal 3rd of the protein - belongs to the semaphorin family - contains 1 Ig-like C2-type domain (immunoglobulin-like) - contains 1 PSI domain - contains 1 sema domain Compartment: secreted (putative)
