Indications:
- rapid detection of SARS-CoV2
Clinical significance:
- detects SARS-CoV2 aerosols in two exhaled breaths with results in < 60 seconds
- electrochemical biosensor directly detects the virus itself vs a surrogate or signature of the virus
- sensitive 10 viral particles in a sample
Mechanism of action:
- integrates a hand-held breath aerosol collector & a SARS-CoV2 spike-protein specific nanobody bound to a micro-immunoelectrode biosensor
- biosensor detects oxidation of tyrosine present in SARS-CoV2 viral particles
