salicylic acid/sulfur (Sebulex shampoo)
sulfur 2%/salicylic acid 2%
Indications:
1) seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp
2) psoriasis of the scalp
3) dandruff
Dosage:
1) massage into wet hair to form lather
2) allow to sit for 5 minutes
3) repeat once
4) rinse thoroughly
Shampoo: 7 oz.
Adverse effects:
1) irritation of the skin, eyes & respiratory tract
2) staining of clothing & jewelry
Mechanism of action:
1) salicylic acid: keratolytic & antiseptic
2) sulfur: keratolytic, weak antifungal & antibacterial agent
