Russell viper venom time (RVVT)

Indications: 1) suspected factor VII deficiency with prolonged PT, but normal aPTT & thrombin time; normal RVVT suggests factor VII deficiency 2) part of a screening panel for antiphospholipid antibodies; RVVT should be prolonged in the presence of antiphospho- lipid antibodies Notes: - Russell viper venom activates factor X directly.
