RNA polymerase 2 transcription factor SIII subunit A3-like-1 (elongin-A3-like-1, eloA3-like-1, transcription elongation factor B polypeptide 3C-like-1, TCEB3CL)
Function:
- SIII, also known as elongin, is a general transcription elongation factor that increases the RNA polymerase 2 transcription elongation past template-encoded arresting sites
- subunit A3 is transcriptionally active but its transcription activity is not enhanced by binding to the dimeric complex of the SIII regulatory subunits B & C (elongin BC complex)
- heterotrimer of an A (A1, A2 or A3), B & C subunit
Structure:
- elongin BC complex binding domain is also known as BC-box with the consensus [APST]-L-x(3)-C-x(3)-[AILV]
- contains 1 TFIIS N-terminal domain
