Function: - acts as a late-stage inhibitor of pre-60S ribosome assembly by preventing pre-60S ribosome export from nucleus - interacts with 60S ribosome assembly factors GTPBP4 & MRTO4 Compartment: - nucleus, nucleolus Alternative splicing: alternative initiation; named isoforms=6 Expression: - increases at early S phase & peaks during S phase - decreases by late S phase & is very low during G2/M - at G1, it again increases Notes: - MINAS-60 is the product of an alternative open reading frame (alt-ORF) of transcripts coding for the RBM10 (AC P98175) protein - MINAS-60 & RBM10 ORFs are overlapping & are formed by shifting the reading frame
