Etiology: Rickettsia akari Epidemiology: 1) seen in urban settings 2) transmitted by house mites Clinical manifestations: 1) eschar found at site of mite bite 2) diffuse rash involving face, trunk, extremities 3) 2-10 mm papules & plaques, evolving into vesicles & then crusting 4) headache 5) myalgias 6) regional adenopathy 7) mild disease Management: see Rocky Mountain spotted fever
