remimazolam (Byfavo)
Indications:
- sedations in adults
Contraindications:
- < 18 years of age
- hypersensitivity reaction to dextran 40
- caution in geriatric patients & patients with severe liver disease
Dosage:
adults:
- 5 mg IV push over 1 minute
- supplemental doses of 2.5 mg IV over 15 seconds
- >= 2 minutes between doses
* single-use vial containing 20 mg BYFAVO (remimazolam) lyophilized powder for reconstitution, equivalent to 27.2 mg remimazolam besylate
Adverse effects:
- > 10%
- hypoxia
- hypotension, hypertension
- diastolic hypertension, systolic hypertension
- diastolic hypotension
- other
- bradycardia
- tachycardia
* flumazenil should be immediately available during administration
Drug interactions:
- coadministration of CNS depressants, including opioids, other benzodiazepines, & propofol.
