rehabilitation hospital

A freestanding hospital that is organized & staffed to provide intense & comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation. Coverage by Medicare Part A - full coverage 1st 20 days - partial coverage days 20-100 - no coverage > 100 days Notes: - 24 hour availability of physician with training or experience in rehabilitation medicine - 24 hour nursing care - interprofessional team to deliver care - 3 hours of therapy at least 5 days/week - may include physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy in any combination - team conferences at least every 2 weeks - for older patients who require posthospital rehabilitation, but cannot tolerate standard rehabilitation (3 hours/day, 5 days/week) rehabilitation may be performed in a skilled nursing facility [2]
