Function: - cadherin - interacts with CDCP1 Structure: contains 5 cadherin domains Compartment: cell membrane Alternative splicing: named isoforms=2 Expression: - expressed in some normal epithelial tissues & in some carcinoma cell lines Pathology: - defects in CDH3 are the cause of a) hypotrichosis with juvenile macular dystrophy b) ectodermal dysplasia with ectrodactyly & macular dystrophy
