Uses: - diagnostic agent used in the measurement of renal plasma flow - during world war II, given along with penicillin in order to prolong the 1/2life of penicillin Pharmacokinetics: - completely filtered from plasma in the nephron & not reabsorbed by the tubules, in a manner identical to inulin
