Epidemiology: - 3 times more common in male fetuses Pathology: - dilation of the renal pelvis Complications: - may be 'soft' marker for Down's syndrome Management: - in most cases, pyelectasis resolves spontaneously during gestation without clinical manifestations - newborns with unresolved pyelectasis may experience urological problems requiring surgery
