- a macroscopic term referring to a discrete, pus-filled, raised area
Etiology:
- pustules frequently arise from hair follicles & sweat glands
- pustules are associated with:
a) acne
b) furuncles
c) variola
d) bromide & iodide reactions
e) bacterial infection & superinfections
Laboratory: gram stain
Differential diagnosis: vesicle
Management:
1) depends upon etiology
2) antibiotics for bacterial infection
