Indications:
1) skin test in the diagnosis of tuberculosis
2) aid in assessment of cell-mediated immunity
Contraindications:
- NOT contraindicated for BCG-vaccinated patients
Procedure: (also see tuberculin skin testing)
- 5 TU intradermally
- Read 48-72 hours later
- 250 TU if no response to 5 TU
Injection: 1 TU/0.1 mL (1 mL), 5 TU/0.1 mL (1 mL, 5 mL), 250 TU/0.1 mL (1 mL) Elimination: liver
pregnancy-category C
