Etiology: - appendicitis (right-sided) - iliopsoas hematoma Procedure: - pain ellicited by extension of the hip - painful limitation of hip movement Clinical significance: - right lower quadrant pain on flexion of the right hip against resistance or hyperextension of the right hip, elicited in the classic presentation of appendicitis - the former maneuver contracts & the latter maneuver stretches the psoas muscle Radiology: - CT of abdomen [3,4]
