Etiology: - peripheral corneal ulcer - inflammatory eye conditions a) cicatrizing conjunctivitis b) chemical burns (eye) - irritation from contact lenses Clinical manifestations: - distinguishing features from true pterygium a) adhesion of the conjunctiva to the peripheral cornea b) may occur on any quadrant of the cornea. c) lack of firm adhesion throughout underlying structures Management: - surgical excision
