Indications: - evaluation* of - antiphospholipid antibody syndrome - lupus anticoagulant - hypercoagulability * Experimental, not proven clinical utility [1] Clinical significance: 1) occurs in association with a) low-grade non-Hodgkin's lymphoma b) chronic lymphocytic leukemia 2) enhances clearance of factor II (prothrombin) from the circulation Laboratory: -> in vitro coagulation tests correct with addition of normal plasma because the autoantibody does not interact with the active site of an enzyme
