Function: - demethylates proteins that have been reversibly carboxymethylated - demethylates PPP2CB (in vitro) & PPP2CA - binds protein phosphatase 2A (PPP2CA & PPP2CB) - binding to PPP2CA displaces the Mn+2 & inactivates PPME1 - phosphorylated by SIK1 following increases in intracellular Na+, leading to dissociation from protein phosphatase 2A & subsequent dephosphorylation of Na+/K+-transporting ATPase ATP1A1 (putative) Structure: belongs to the AB hydrolase superfamily Alternative splicing: named isoforms=3
