- used in engineering as strong, tough materials
- some grades are optically transparent
Structure:
- thermoplastic polymers containing carbonate groups
- may contain the precursor monomer bisphenol A
Notes:
- how to identify polycarbonate plastics;
- these usually have the number 7 in the recycling triangle, but 7 is a catch-all category...and not all 7s are polycarbonate
