Etiology: - associated disorders - vitiligo - alopecia areata - halo moles - piebaldism - Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease - Alezzandrini syndrome - Waardenburg syndrome - tuberous sclerosis (60%) Pathology: - decrease or absence of melanin in head hair, eyebrows, or eyelashes - inherited defect in melanisation - autoimmune destruction of the pigment cells at the base of the hair Clinical manifestations: - decrease or absence of color in head hair, eyebrows, or eyelashes
