Function: - component of the PeBoW complex - sumoylated - interacts with IRS1 & UBTF - may interact with MAP1B Structure: - belongs to the pescadillo family - contains 1 BRCT domain Compartment: - nucleus, nucleolus. nucleus, nucleoplasm - appears to localize to the periphery of metaphase chromosomes during mitosis & to the prenucleolar bodies that form in mitotic cells prior to the actual nucleoli (putative) Alternative splicing: named isoforms=2 Expression: - induced by MYC - significant levels are detected in a variety of cancer cell lines, including glioblastoma, breast carcinoma, colon carcinoma & cervical carcinoma cells - levels are abnormally elevated in malignant astrocytomas
