Depressions or pouches formed between various peritoneal folds.
Pathology:
Sites of internal hernias
The location of a hernia in one of these fossae determines the type of hernia:
1) Supravesical fossa
-> supravesical hernia
2) Medial inguinal fossa
-> direct inguinal hernia
3) Lateral inguinal fossa
-> indirect inguinal hernia
