Indications: - used as an internal tamponade agent in surgery for complicated retinal detachments [1] - treatment of dry eyes [2] Dosage: Solution: 1 g/mL Mechanism of action: - liquid semifluorinated alkane that is heavier than water [1] - increases tear film thickness & lipid layer thickness in dry eye syndrome - prevents evaporation of tears through stabilization of the lipid layer [2]
