peptidoglycan (mucopeptide, Ppg)

A compound containing amino acids or peptides linked to carbohydrate, with carbohydrate as the dominant moiety. It is one of two classes of polymers constituting the cell walls of gram positive bacteria. (The other is teichoic acid)
