penicilloyl moiety (major determinant)

The penicilloyl moiety or major determinant results from reaction of beta-lactam ring with endogenous proteins. This forms a hapten-protein complex, the most abundant but not necessarily most immunogenic or allergic antigen resulting from beta-lactam antibiotics.
