paraneoplastic acrokeratosis of Bazex; Bazex syndrome; acrokeratosis paraneoplastica

Etiology: - associated with squamous cell carcinoma 1) upper respiratory system (head & neck cancer) 2) esophageal cancer (squamous cell carcinoma) Pathology: * histopathology images [5] Clinical manifestations: 1) psoriaform lesions of the hands, feet, ears & nose 2) onychodystrophy 3) keratoderma may also be present - hyperkeratotic plaques on the palms & soles with surrounding erythema [3] 4) evidence of malignancy may be noted * images [3,4,5] Management: - effective treatment of the underlying malignancy results in resolution of the dermatosis
