Pappataci fever; Phlebotomus fever; sandfly fever; 3-day fever

Etiology: - Phlebovirus - Toscana virus Epidemiology: - subtropical regions of the Eastern Hemisphere - transmitted by bite an sandfly Clinical manifestations: - lassitude, abdominal distress & chills followed by fever of 39-40 C, frontal headache, myalgia & arthralgia, facial flushing, & tachycardia - after 2 days, fever subsides - fatigue, bradycardia, hypotension may persist from days to several weeks - generally complete recovery expected Management: - no specific treatment - supportive care prevention - mosquito nets not be sufficient to prevent bite of sandfly - control & eradication of sandflies
