60 kD SS-A/Ro ribonucleoprotein; 60 kD ribonucleoprotein Ro; RoRNP; 60 kD Ro protein; Ro 60 kD autoantigen; TROVE domain family member 2; Sjoegren syndrome type A antigen; SS-A; Sjoegren syndrome antigen A2 (TROVE2, Ro60, SSA2)

Function: - RNA-binding protein that binds to several small cytoplasmic RNA molecules known as Y RNAs - may stabilize these Y RNAs from degradation - in the free state, Ro binds to a variety of misfolded RNAs including misfolded 5S rRNAs, & is thought to act as some sort of quality control mechanism - Y RNA appears to function as a repressor of Ro - phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR - found in a complex with PUF60 & Y5 RNA - interacts with RIP11 Structure: - belongs to the Ro 60 kD family - contains 1 TROVE domain Compartment: cytoplasm Alternative splicing: named isoforms=2 Pathology: - sera from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) often contain autoantibodies that react with normal cellular SSA2 protein
