Indications: - obstructuve sleep apnea - snoring Procedure: - repetitive exercises of the soft palate, tongue, & facial muscles - breathing, speech, swallowing, & chewing exercises * exercises taught by speech therapy Clinical significance: - exercises in one study [1] led to better objective & subjective outcomes Special laboratory: - polysomnography - about 40% improvement in mean apnea-hypopnea indexes
